In traditional orthodontics, specific teeth or groups of teeth are used as anchor points to move other teeth when trying to align and correct the bite. Unfortunately, this type of traditional system causes reciprocal forces which can lead to undesirable tooth movement during treatment. TADs (also called mini-screws) can be placed in the mouth to provide an independent anchor point to move teeth in a more desirable and precise direction. Dr. Struckhoff will discuss TADs with you in more detail if she finds they would provide significant benefit in your treatment.
